Cream Tea at the British Embassy in Buenos Aires

There are few things more quintessentially British than a cream tea — and when enjoyed at the British Embassy in Buenos Aires in the company of HM's Ambassador to Argentina, it becomes something a little more special still.
The British Argentine Chamber of Commerce, through its Argentine Wine & Travel Club, recently had the pleasure of doing exactly that: gathering at the British Embassy in Argentina for an afternoon of scones, clotted cream, jam, and warm conversation with H.E. Kirsty Hayes, HM's Ambassador to Argentina.
The BACC at the Table
The Chamber was represented by Chairman Ing. Javier Alvarez, Expert Adviser Claudio Oliveira, and Board Member Maita Barrenechea, joined by members of the Argentine Wine & Travel Club and friends of the Chamber.
The occasion reflected the kind of relationship-building that sits at the heart of what the BACC does — bringing together the right people in the right settings to nurture the ties between the United Kingdom and Argentina.
Part of Something Bigger: Curated Argentina 2025
This cream tea was not a standalone occasion. It forms part of a year-long series of events leading up to the BACC's upcoming flagship trade mission: Curated Argentina 2025 — a celebration of Argentina's finest in wine, luxury travel, and gastronomy, brought to the United Kingdom.
The mission will take place from 15 to 18 September 2025, with a thoughtfully designed programme of activities across London and Edinburgh. It promises to be a landmark moment for UK-Argentine relations in the worlds of wine, hospitality, and trade.
