A Partnership Made Official: The BACC and ProMendoza Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On a significant afternoon for UK-Argentine relations, Ing. Javier Alvarez, Chairman of the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce, and Alfredo Cornejo, Governor of the Province of Mendoza, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in London — formally cementing a partnership between the BACC and Fundación ProMendoza that has been years in the making.

The signing took place at the Embassy of Argentina in the United Kingdom, hosted by H.E. Ambassador Mariana Plaza, whose continued support for the collaborative work between the BACC and Argentina's provincial institutions has been instrumental in making moments like this possible.

What the MOU Means

The Memorandum of Understanding formalises a framework for collaboration between the BACC and ProMendoza across a range of sectors in which both Mendoza and the United Kingdom have complementary interests and shared ambitions. The partnership will focus on exploring and promoting opportunities in mining, oil and gas, agri-food, tourism, and — of course — wine.

For the BACC, this agreement reflects something the Chamber has long believed: that the UK-Argentine relationship is best built province by province, sector by sector, through the kind of sustained, trust-based collaboration that takes years to develop and deserves to be formalised when the time is right. That time has come.

A Day of Investment and Wine

The signing was part of a broader programme of activity designed to showcase what the BACC-ProMendoza partnership looks like in practice — a day that combined high-level investment dialogue with the altogether more convivial business of tasting Mendoza's finest wines.

A well-attended wine tasting, co-organised by the BACC, Fundación ProMendoza, and the Embassy of Argentina in the UK, brought together a carefully curated selection of producers — many of them members and friends of the Argentine Wine & Travel Club:

Elemental Wines, Huentala Wines, Don Rosendo Wines, Cinco Sentidos, Clop Wines, Corbeau Wines, Tittarelli Wines, La Graine Wines, Mi Terruno, Don Cristobal, Viña Alta, and Bodega Araujo.

The range on offer was a fitting reminder of why Mendoza continues to capture the imagination of the UK wine trade — and why the work of connecting these producers with British buyers, importers, and sommeliers matters.

Thank You

Our sincere thanks to H.E. Ambassador Mariana Plaza for hosting the signing and the tasting at the Argentine Residence, and for her unwavering support of the collaborative efforts between the BACC, ProMendoza, and the province of Mendoza more broadly.

And a particular thank you to Governor Alfredo Cornejo for travelling to London to sign the MOU in person — a gesture that speaks to the seriousness with which the Province of Mendoza approaches its relationship with the United Kingdom.

Looking Ahead

This MOU is the beginning of a new chapter in a partnership that has already produced much — from shared wine events and trade missions to joint promotional activity and business introductions. With a formal framework now in place, we look forward to doing more, across more sectors, and with greater reach and impact on both sides.
