Minister Latorre in London: Mendoza's Mining Vision
Nov 28, 2025Minister Latorre in London: Positioning Mendoza on the Global Mining Map
In late 2025, Jimena Latorre, Minister of Energy, Mining and Environment for the Province of Mendoza, visited London for a programme of engagements that placed Mendoza firmly in the sights of the international mining and investment community.
The visit coincided with London Mining Week, one of the most significant gatherings of the global mining industry, and centred on the Resourcing Tomorrow Conference at the Business Design Centre — a platform that brings together the world's leading voices in critical minerals, energy transition finance, and resource investment.
The British Argentine Chamber of Commerce was proud to be part of this visit, hosting bilateral meetings alongside the Embassy of Argentina in the United Kingdom to support Mendoza's ambitions and strengthen the connections between the province and the UK investment community.
Resourcing Tomorrow: A Platform for Mendoza's Potential
At the Resourcing Tomorrow Conference, Minister Latorre delivered a keynote address positioning Mendoza as both an international financial hub and a vital source of the critical minerals the global energy transition depends upon.
Her presentation detailed the province's five metallogenic belts — a geological endowment that underpins Mendoza's significant copper potential and broader minerals offer. The address made the case for Mendoza not merely as a mining destination but as a sophisticated, investment-ready jurisdiction with the institutional framework and strategic vision to partner with global capital at scale.
Bilateral Meetings: Building the Investment Case
Alongside her conference appearance, Minister Latorre participated in a series of bilateral meetings hosted by the Embassy of Argentina in the UK and the BACC, bringing together investors, financiers, and industry leaders with a direct interest in Argentina's mining and energy sectors.
The meetings were an opportunity for substantive, relationship-focused dialogue — the kind that moves beyond public presentations and into the specific questions that matter to investors: legal frameworks, financing structures, project timelines, and the practical pathways to partnership.
A Financial Strategy for the Long Term
Minister Latorre was accompanied on the visit by directors from Impulsa Mendoza, the province's investment and development agency. Together, they used the London programme to lay the groundwork for cross-border financial vehicles and to advance Mendoza's strategy for global copper exploration — signalling that this visit was not a one-off engagement but the beginning of a sustained international investment effort.
The BACC's Role
The BACC's participation in hosting bilateral meetings during Minister Latorre's visit reflects the Chamber's broader commitment to facilitating high-level engagement between Argentine provincial governments and the UK business and investment community. Mendoza's mining potential is substantial, and ensuring that the right conversations happen in London — where much of the world's mining finance is structured — is exactly the kind of work the BACC exists to do.
We look forward to continuing to support Mendoza's international engagement and to building on the connections made during this visit.
