Mendoza Governor Cornejo's London Trade Mission
Feb 16, 2025Mendoza Governor Alfredo Cornejo Visits London for Investment and Trade Mission
In February 2025, Mendoza Governor Alfredo Cornejo brought his province's investment story to London in a packed two-day agenda co-organised by the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce, the Argentine Embassy, and Fundación ProMendoza.
The centrepiece of the visit was a strategic breakfast hosted on 13 February at the Official Residence of the Argentine Ambassador, where Governor Cornejo addressed representatives from a range of UK companies. His presentation focused on the economic reforms underway in Mendoza and the concrete investment opportunities available in three key sectors.
Energy and Mining Mendoza is positioning itself as a destination of choice for investors in critical minerals, with copper at the forefront of discussions. The province also benefits from its proximity to the greater Vaca Muerta region, one of the world's most significant hydrocarbon formations, opening further opportunities in energy infrastructure and development.
Tourism Beyond resources, Governor Cornejo highlighted Mendoza's world-class tourism offer — a sector with growing appeal for international investors looking at hospitality, infrastructure and experiential travel in one of South America's most celebrated destinations.
Bilateral Trade and Investor Engagement The breakfast was complemented by a series of bilateral meetings between the Governor and UK investors, focused on the legal and regulatory frameworks designed to attract and protect foreign capital in the province. The visit built meaningfully on the growing UK-Argentina commercial relationship and set the stage for continued dialogue throughout the year.
The day took a more convivial turn in the afternoon, when Master of Wine Phil Crozier led a masterclass showcasing some of Mendoza's most exciting wines. The session was followed by an open tasting for buyers, sommeliers and industry insiders, featuring bottles from Atamisque, Paso a Paso, Krontiras, Finca del Nunca Jamás, Bodega López, Don Cristobal, Galileo Wines, Solar del Alma, Bodega Toso and Cepas Argentinas — a vivid reminder that Mendoza's story is as much about culture and craft as it is about commerce.
The following day, Governor Cornejo and the Argentine Ambassador visited Chatham House for a further meeting to discuss the province's economic outlook and reform agenda.
